Finnish tutoring

I offer personalised Finnish lessons either face-to-face or via Teams/Zoom based on your preference.

You will be provided custom materials tailored to your progress and level. Teaching will focus on medical Finnish, aimed to ready you to work in Finland as a doctor. I will also include some fun information about culture in Finland.

My background

I'm a 22-year-old Finnish med student in RSU. I have lived in Finland all my life and always had somewhat of a passion for teaching. Even when I was just a young 7-year-old, I was making work sheets for my sibling because I wanted to teach them! (Sorry to her for that)

I've taught Finnish to my partner through custom worksheets, Suomen Mestari 1-2 (official textbooks) and flashcards. This summer (after 1 year of studying Finnish), he worked in Finland as a substitute doctor and made over 9000 €!

Why learn Finnish

Besides the lovely fact that you can work during your studies and through that fund your life in Riga, there are many reasons to learn Finnish.

Finland is a country filled with nice people who are open to help you learn Finnish. I would describe Finns to be shy, but always super polite.

My partner has also given me a lot of positive feedback about Finland. He worked for two months. He is Indian and his Finnish was still not perfect. Regardless, he has told me that none of his patients have been rude/racist to him. Of course, racism exists (as it does everywhere unfortunately). But luckily, the majority of people in Finland are very supportive of foreigners.

One bad side to Finns is that they're super shy and don't want to make things uncomfortable for you. Due to this, they will automatically switch to English if they sense you struggling with Finnish. But still, you should persist and continue speaking in Finnish! It will develop your language skills.
