How to use the different systems at RSU: myRSU, estudies

RSU uses two systems, and they work very poorly, just like any other school system.

MyRSU is the platform you use to send applications, and maybe check your calendar on your phone (though it's more effective to use Outlook for that).

E-studies is where you actually find all the courses, and their content. E-studies can be found at the address estudijas.rsu.lv. Sure, you can go to e-studies through myRSU, but then you will have to log into myRSU > click e-studies > log into e-studies... Yeah... Better to just remember the address.

How do you actually access the systems?

You log into your e-studies with your school email. This is in the form 000000@rsu.edu.lv (000000 being your student number)

You receive your student number around a week before the beginning of your studies. I received in an email titled "Welcome e-mail: myRSU".

In it I also got my group number in a weird format SSNMFz2020z12, 2020 being the year of the studies starting, and the last number being my group number.

Logging in to any of the platforms is quite complicated for the first time since you have to set up 2FA, but RSU luckily has instructions here on how to do it.

I trust Outlook better when it comes to the calendar, because myRSU doesn't always get the updates on the calendar as quickly.

When using the calendar view on myRSU, click the black class_schedule to only see the classes translated in English :) The other one just shows the same classes but in Latvian.

MyRSU will also be used for applications for e.g. sick leave or public transport tickets.

E-studies are used in all the courses to find the materials, Zoom links, etc.

Here you can find a list of the courses you are taking. At the top right of the page you can find a translate button if you don't recognise the names of the courses from this. But with time, in my experience, you stop doing it because it just takes an extra 5 seconds.

In each course, you can find all the pages for materials (left). You can also find your grades that the teacher has published. When you've done the exam, you'll find yourself checking the grades page every day.

If you have any other questions about the systems, feel free to comment on this page or message me on TikTok @laakislatvia :)
