My first semester, first ever class of anatomy was a bit chaotic. No one knew where to go, where the lessons are, nothing. So we ended up standing in the hall of Anatomikum, waiting for someone to come take us to class (that moment never came). Because everyone was standing there, everyone else also thought this was the right thing to do.
If you’re nervous about your first class, don’t worry. I’ll tell you all you need to know.
What you need with you:
- lab coat
- phone to take pictures with
- student ID
Arriving at Anatomikum
You find Anatomikum at the address Eksporta Iela 1A. In Outlook it sometimes says Kronvalda Bulvāris 9, which is close, sure, but not the correct building. This leads to a lot of confusion.
Entrance:
When you enter, you will see little gates that you need to show your ID in to enter. After the gates, there are stairs upstairs to the 1st floor. When you go up those stairs, you need to have your labcoat on.
If you have an outside jacket, you need to leave it in the downstairs cloak room. You can see it when you first go through the gates, on the right side of the stairs. Take the stairs down and to the right.
Check your calendar. It will have a room number, such as 215. The first number signifies the floor the classroom is on. Go to that floor by stairs or elevator. From that it’s just looking around until you find the right classroom. It won’t take long, there aren’t that many. Even if people are just standing around looking confused, go to the classroom.
You don’t need to prepare for your anatomy practical classes. But you should spend your time there wisely. Take pictures of the models, find the structures list on estudies and start marking the structures on the pictures of the models. This is the best way to prepare for the anatomy colloquium.
